I think "now io" has very little imagination,(what is Now-io doing on DA?...sigh... guess everyone has to start somewhere), but then so many on this planet always want to change things to suit their pre-conceptions....
Why do I say this? Because I am pretty talented with imagination, but am also a human being that listens and looks first and attempts to put my brain in gear before allowing my mouth to shoot off, so, here goes:
This is a perfectly good representation of a sci-fi soldier, (I have been reading sci-fi for longer than most people on DA, (early 1950's), so feel I can talk a little on the subject)
Why is this a perfectly good representation of a sci-fi soldier? Because:
A: Who's to say what type of weapon he uses and whether it is concealed to make him aerodynamic whilst at rest or merely travelling.
B: His "weapons" could be Psionic or Psychic, therefore requiring little or no hardware
C: He could be about to make a call via comms home to his mum/girlfriend/boyfriend/sister/brother etc....
D: Even "Soldiers" need to go to the loo....
E: His gear is in the ready room waiting for when he goes back on duty.
F: His weapons are on this armour(?) but "cloaked" so adverseries will take him for an explorer/civilian/medic etc wearing an exoskeleton for survival in this hostile atmosphere.
I could go on ad nauseum... but you get the point..right?
Don't allow your soldier to be bullied!.... excellent deviation! faving...... 3... 2... 1... P.
Hi, I see your point... and a very generous one it is too!
I don't feel you created any misunderstanding; I certainly don't feel misled in any way at all, nor, apparently, did the 8 other people who have left such
unreservedly, positive comments.., although that is not a proof that Now io is wrong! I wouldn't be that generous I'm afraid... why? because Now io was still wrong! and they are contradicting themselves! two errors! Why?
Now io made an assumption, ("why is he a "fighter"? what does he have what devines him as one?"), about what sci-fi soldiers must look like. Not what they "could" look like... and that! is the sort of statement that is created by a lack of imagination teamed up with prejudice!, a common combination, and in no way a valid "critique" Please note again that: no-one else has stated that it doesn't give the right impression, and generally folk are an observant bunch on this site... for obvious reasons.
And: Now io has stated(and I quote): "...it looks more like another power ranger than a soldier..."
Power Rangers are, in fact, soldiers!... and the world they inhabit is one that anyone I've ever met would call a "sci-fi" one!; plus: their TV series is a constant battle between them and "the forces of evil" like the "Warstar" villains. Thus: Now io has stated that the deviation gives the "impression", of being at the very least: "a type of sf warrior" I'm sure you would agree that "soldier" and "warrior" are essentially interchangeable?
Now io, therefore, contradicts themselves by stating that "Male Sci-Fi Soldier" does in fact, even in their own eyes!, "do what it says on the box":
depict a "Male SF Warrior/Soldier"**
Best wishes, Peter.
* "pre-judging" is the real meaning of this word, as I'm sure you know.
**though the "male" bit, is in fact, the one thing that the deviation doesn't, in an obvious way, show. I have seen many women with the ensemble of:
Well-developed, "male-looking" physiques, narrow "boyish" hips and "flat" chests...
